Process Flow Engine

The Process Flow Engine’s purpose is to launch components and control their flow and success. Process definitions can be defined for each task, like a real-time application asking for immediate response to a document or a mass-printing job that generates thousands of documents.

Runtime Repository

Document layout definitions (XSL-FO) generated by DocDesign, resources like images and text constants, data schemes and other information are centrally stored in an SQL based repository database. Setup and management of the database support development and deployment cycles across platforms.

Scalability

The Process Flow Engine is capable of splitting work across several instances of DocBase. This guarantees unlimited scalability, may this be within servers in a data center or distributed across an affiliate network of a company. It is possible to run individual components of a process on different servers, e.g. for data acquisition or printing tasks. The remote execution is handled by a so-called Process Agent. Remotely driven components are licensed with the Satellite Edition of DocBase.
